School Gates

Please always use the TOP bolt to close the gate when you leave.

We have had the school gates left open when adults are leaving school and this could allow the youngest children to get out onto the street. Please always close and bolt the gate when you leave.

Our front gate on Lorne Street now has an extra “top bolt” added which will be out of the reach of children.

Please always use the TOP bolt to close the gate when you leave.

New Depute Head Teacher

Welcome to Ellie English our new Depute Head Teacher. Ellie will be looking after Nursery to P3 and Mr McLean will be looking after P4 to P7. Miss English will also give teachers their non-contact time by teaching Drama to older classes all day Thursday. We also have Miss Young taking on a new role of stage leader in P2 to 4 providing leadership and support at this stage. Mrs Anderson will take the lead for support for learning until she goes on maternity leave in December.

Competition Surprise

Well done to Meng Ting who won a cupcake design competition which classes entered in the summer. As part of her prize her class will get to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia in the Autumn!

Parking Zone

We have had more reports of parents and carers parking on the yellow zig-zag lines outside school. We also now have double parking outside school. This has resulted in another near-miss where children crossing the road were put at risk. I have now contacted the parking enforcement authorities and asked for parking officers to be present. The parking officers will issue fines for inappropriate parking.

We are appealing for all parents and carers to stick to the parking laws and rules so that we can keep all children safe on their way to and from school.

It is not permitted to park on the yellow zig zag lines. It is also not allowed to double-park opposite the school as this causes a hazard to road users. Fines will be issued to people parking in this area at the times shown in the sign above.

Green Flag

Congratulations to everyone in school for all of the things you do to make us a “green school”. We were assessed again in January and we have now been given Second Green Flag Status by the Eco-Schools assessor. All of our recycling, re-using, composting, reducing waste, planting, picking litter and learning about how to be green has paid off again. Thank you to Mrs Weetman & Mrs Smith for taking this on from Miss Young and leading the Eco-schools work.
