AUTUMN MEETING : Tuesday Sept 15, 6.30-7.30pm School Library. Pupil Activity corner, Refreshments. Lorne Parent Council (PC) invites returning and new parents and carers to come along, catch up on school news and learn about school practice and projects to get involved in. What’s the PC for? The PC meets each term as a flexible forum for parents and carers to express their views and interests, support the school’s work with pupils an...d encourage links between schools, families, pre-school groups and the wider community. An informal, practical and social opportunity, parents and carers meet and share insights with others, over a cup of tea or glass of wine and some nibbles. They can help decide what is most important for the PC to work on, at a level people are comfortable with. It is also a chance to find out about the fun social activities being planned by the school's parent group, the Friends of Lorne Primary (FOLP) , and how you can join in, including helping out at the next FOLP event, the Hallowe'en Disco on Wed Oct 28th, P1-P3 6-6.45pm, P4-P7, 7-8pm. Some items to be discussed are Your feedback to the school's tuckshop initiative School-wide events – current, alternative and new options e.g. Christmas pantomime, Science Festival, Spring tour Autumn in-school gardening project for parents/carers and pupils Second-hand uniform pop up shop each term Further PC meeting dates for your diary are: Tue Nov 17 2015, Tue Feb 9th 2016 and Tue May 17, 2016. 21 Untitled Event 21/09/2015 N/A More Edinburgh Holiday 21/09/2015 N/A More	22 Untitled Event 22/09/2015 N/A More	23 Untitled Event 23/09/2015 N/A More	24 Untitled Event 24/09/2015 N/A More P1 Trip to Botanic Gardens 24/09/2015 10:15 – 11:15 Thursday 24th September 10.15am meet at Royal Botanic Gardens (DATE TO BE CONFIRMED BY THE BOTANIC GARDENS) There will be an excursion to the Royal Botanic Gardens for P1 parents and children. Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult (over 16 years of age) Children/ parents meet school staff at the Botanic Gardens. The children and parents take part in fun activities in the Gardens and get to know each other over a picnic lunch. Children receiving free school meals can order a free packed lunch from school (an order form will be sent out) Everyone can order a paid packed lunch from school. There will be a charge of £3 for this excursion because of the cost of hiring Botanics staff. A letter will be sent home to collect this money and get details of the adult attending with each child. Meet at the Botanics Education Centre at 10.15am (the garden gates open at 10am) 10.30-11.30 activity 1 11.30-12.00 lunch 12.00-1.00 activity 2 Children will be free to leave with their adult at 1pm or can stay on with their adult in the gardens to have more fun! 28 Untitled Event 28/09/2015 N/A More P5 & P5/6 Visiting Our Dynamic Earth 28/09/2015 N/A As part of their Space topic P5 and P5/6 will be visiting Our Dynamic Earth for a Space themed workshop. We will be walking there, taking part in our workshops and having our packed lunches before walking back to school. Information letters coming home on Monday 14th.
